Ilan is the Managing Director of Retender, a specialist firm focusing on innovating the way that risk pools are managed. He is the Chair of the Life Insurance and Wealth Management Practice Committee at the Actuaries Institute and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia. 

JanSwinhoe Speaker Photo  Leadership and Professionalism Curator - Jan Swinhoe

Since 2011, Jan has been a non-executive company director and is currently Chair of Mercer Superannuation Australia Limited, Deputy Chair of Athletics Australia Limited and is a Director of Swiss Re Australia and New Zealand, Suncorp Portfolio Services Limited, IMB Bank and Australian Philanthropic Services. Prior to this, Jan had over 30 years experience in Institutional Banking, Derivatives Trading, Private Banking and Corporate Superannuation. She is passionate about quality of life for older people both from a health and financial perspective.

Jan holds a B.Sc (Hons) majoring in pure mathematics, and is an Associate of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia and Graduate of the Institute of Company Directors.

Life Curator – Jaimie Sach, ANZ

Jaimie has worked in the wealth industry for over 30 years in business, general finance and actuarial roles (both in Australia and UK).  Currently is CFO of ANZ Wealth and will join Zurich in April 2019 as Chief Risk Officer

Super Curator – Nick Callil, Willis Towers Watson

Nick is Head of Retirement Solutions for Willis Towers Watson Australia and a senior member of the firm’s Australian business. He manages key relationships and provides strategic advice to some of Willis Towers Watson Australia’s largest clients. Nick has been with Willis Towers Watson for over 20 years.

Nick leads Willis Towers Watson’s research in the area of retirement strategy, and consults to leading superannuation funds and financial institutions on retirement and related matters, spanning topics such as default investment option design, longevity risk, safe spending rates in retirement, evaluation of retirement income strategies and asset allocation for retirees.  He also consults on risk tolerance modelling, demographic and retirement adequacy analysis, dynamic lifecycle strategies, retirement income projections and the use of fintech to devise retirement strategies and present retirement risks effectively.

Nick is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia and holds a first class Science degree with Honours in pure and applied mathematics from Monash University.

Vivian Yu 

Investment and Wealth Management Curator - Vivian Yu

Vivian Yu has over 10 years professional experience as an Actuary whose career has spanned areas ranging from technical and operational roles in Valuation and Wealth Management through to product development in both the investment and life insurance sectors. She is passionate about creating better financial outcomes for all Australians who are in retirement or approaching retirement. Her latest adventure is working as the capital manager in the innovation and development teams of MLC Life Insurance. Her role sees her carrying out research, development and implementation of innovative ideas to make life insurance, one of the oldest financial products, more relevant in the contemporary context and in meeting the ever changing needs of Australian customers.

Health Curator – Stuart Rodger

Stuart was for many years a Partner in Deloitte Australia, and while now semi-retired, he continues to hold a contract with the firm.  He focusses on health, health finance, and strategy for those in the sector. 

In a career lasting over 45 years he has worked as a business leader or an actuary in Australia, the UK, Japan, and Singapore. In 2018 he passed with Distinction the AICD Company Directors Course.

He has participated in several Committees of the Australian Actuaries Institute, including Health Practice Committee, Ageing Population Taskforce, and Membership Committee. He is also a Committee Member of the IAA Health Section.

Data Analytics Curator - Bartosz Piwcewicz

Bartosz is a passionate leader with broad experience across different industries gained in both corporate and consulting roles. He has a proven track record in successfully building and leading actuarial and analytical functions, engaging with executives and boards, developing and implementing impactful data-driven strategies and improving business practices for companies in Australia and New Zealand.  

Risk Co-Curator - Susan Looi

Susan Looi has more than 25 years of extensive local and international financial services experience, spanning insurance, reinsurance and banking.  

Susan is the Group executive leading the ANZ Banking Group’s enterprise risk management and framework, heading teams responsible for managing the Group’s Risk Appetite, ICAAP and stress testing, capital and provisioning forecasting, wholesale portfolio analytics as well as the portfolio credit monitoring/experience analysis of ANZ Group’s wholesale and retail banking businesses.  

Prior to ANZ Banking Group Susan headed the Capital & Strategic Solutions business for reinsurer RGA and spent several years overseas in Switzerland as the Group Chief Pricing Actuary for global insurer Zurich Financial Services, focusing on life insurance and funds management.  Susan has led multi-disciplinary teams across different geographies and comes from a consulting background.

Susan is a director on Boards and is a member of the Risk Management Association of Australia, as well as convenor of the Actuaries Institute’s Risk Management Practice Committee.
Risk Co-Curator - Nick Cowdery

Nick has over 16 years experience recruiting professionals for Actuarial, Insurance and Risk Management roles in Australia and the UK. Nick has detailed knowledge of the Life, Non-Life, Risk, Investment and Superannuation industries placing candidates at all levels from analyst to CEO.


Nick has a keen interest in developing the way recruitment works for both employers and candidates. New tech solutions can make the process more effective and efficient and hopefully, more satisfying for all concerned.
