Joseph Healy Joseph Healy
Group Executive, Business Banking, National Australia Bank

Joseph was appointed Group Executive Business Banking in March 2009, and is responsible for the bank’s relationships with small, mid-sized and large businesses, Financial Institutions, and private clients. He is also responsible for the Group’s activities in the Asian region and offices in London and New York.

Prior to joing NAB, Joseph was Managing Director, Global Client Relationship Banking at ANZ Bank and has previously worked in London for Lloyds Bank, CIBC World Markets and Citicorp.

Non-Executive Director, AMP Life Limited and Max BUPA Health Insurance Limited

Tony is a director of and adviser to several leading Australian and international organizations, including AMP Life Limited and Max BUPA Health Insurance Limited, and an Adjunct Professor at the Business and Economics Faculty of Macquarie University. Chief Risk Officer and Group Actuary of Insurance Australia Group (IAG) from 2000 to 2008, Tony was a Partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) prior to joining IAG. His 15 year career at PwC included management roles, as well as a diverse range of business valuation, corporate finance and advisory work for both public and private sector clients.

Tony is a past President of the Actuaries Institute, former winner of the Actuary of the Year award and has held leadership roles in the International Actuarial Association (IAA).

Josh Corrigan Joshua Corrigan
Principal, Milliman

Joshua is a Principal at Milliman, where he leads Milliman’s risk management services across the Asia-Pacific region. Josh specialises in enterprise risk management, spanning a wide range of industries including insurance, banking, wealth management, and energy and has worked in risk management roles in the UK, Europe, Asia and Australia.

A Fellow of both the Actuaries Institute and the UK Actuarial Profession, a CFA Institute Charterholder, and a recently qualified CERA, Josh is an active contributor, authoring numerous research papers, and was recently appointed Convenor of the Risk Management Practice Committee.

Peter Matruglio Peter Matruglio
Partner, Deloitte

Peter joined Deloitte in February 2011 and is the Partner in Charge of Deloitte Australia’s Financial Services Risk Practice and Lead Partner of their Financial Services: Finance and Risk Management Initiative. Peter has extensive, direct hands on experience in assisting clients to rationalise and reengineer their risk and governance frameworks and in enhancing the effectiveness of their second and third line functions across Australasia, Europe and North America.

Blair McAuliffe Blair McAuliffe
Senior Manager, ERM Framework and Program, Group Risk Management, AMP

Blair has over 16 years experience in risk management, with half of that time spent managing the Operational, Market and Traded Credit risk of the former St. George Institutional and Business Bank, and more recently in Operational Risk framework development for Westpac Group Risk.

Blair now works in Enterprise Risk framework development for AMP Group Risk Management and attributes his success to the cultivation of a healthy risk culture, as the foundation for a sound risk framework.

Mike Thornton Mike Thornton
Chief Risk Officer, AMP Group

Mike is the Chief Risk Officer at AMP Group, and has over 20 years experience in life insurance and wealth management. Mike held a number of senior finance roles in the UK, before migrating to Australia in 2000 to join AXA Asia Pacific in Melbourne, where he was Group Chief Actuary and Group Chief Risk Officer and successfully steered the AXA Asia Pacific Group through the global financial crisis.

Stephen Britt Stephen Britt
Senior Manager, Capital Modeling, IAG

Stephen is an actuary and a CFA Charter holder who has spent most of his working life trying to figure out the interactions between the asset and liability side of the balance sheet. He has worked professionally in Australia, Asia, North and South America, the UK and Europe and his 30 years experience includes consulting in pensions, investments and property casualty. Currently, Stephen leads IAG’s capital modelling efforts and works within the investments area where he continues to manage the interactions between the Groups investment and insurance risks.

Bruce is the Head of Risk Management at TAL Limited and has over twenty years experience in Risk Management and Assurance across the Banking, Oil, Gas and Life Insurance industries. Bruce joined TAL in 2008 and is responsible for all aspects of Enterprise Risk Management and Enterprise Resilience. Bruce is a Chartered Accountant and is currently researching a doctorate on Enterprise Risk Management..

Jim Christodouleas Jim Christodouleas
Head of Risk, Digital, Direct and Third-Party Channels, National Australia Bank

Jim is responsible for risk oversight of Digital, Direct and 3rd-party Channels in Australia. In prior roles with the NAB, Jim supported the Group Chief Credit Officer in developing and managing the Credit Risk Appetite framework and credit portfolio strategy, helped develop the Group Risk Appetite Framework across all risk classes and led the creation of a nascent credit portfolio management capability for the Australia region.

Tim Clark Tim Clark
Chief Actuary, IAG

Tim joined the IAG in November 2010 as Chief Actuary, having previously spent 19 years at Swiss Re working in a variety of senior positions in Australia, Switzerland, Hong Kong and the UK.

With over 20 years of international experience as an Actuary and Risk Manager, Tim has led underwriting and pricing teams, operated as Appointed/Approved Actuary in multiple regulatory regimes throughout Asia, and now leads the Group Actuarial and Capital function at IAG.

Elaine Collins Elaine Collins
Non-Executive Director, Zurich

Elaine was recently appointed a Non-Executor Director of Zurich, having previously been a Partner of Deloitte. She is a Fellow of the Actuaries Institute and a member of its Professional Standards Committee. With over 20 years experience in the general insurance industry, Elaine has provided a wide variety of actuarial and risk management advice, including the valuation and pricing of risks, capital efficiency, profitability modelling, reinsurance and management reporting in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore and Papua New Guinea.

Rob Curtis Rob Curtis
Director, KPMG

Rob is a Director in KPMG LLP’s Insurance Risk Advisory team and is KPMG’s Global Regulatory Lead for Insurance, responsible for the Global Regulatory Centre of Excellence for insurance across Europe, Middle East and Africa. He has significant experience in regulation, having developed the UK ICAS regime and lead the FSA’s Solvency II programme, and is currently leading the design of a new risk-based regulatory framework for a major Asian insurance regulator.

John Evans John Evans
Associate Professor, Australian School of Business, UNSW

John Evans is an Associate Professor in the Australian School of Business at UNSW, Chairman of Emerging Leaders Investment Limited, and Chairman of several Risk and Compliance Committees of financial institutions. John was previously a Guardian of the New Zealand Superannuation Fund and consulted to several industry superannuation funds.

David Hall David Hall
Chief Risk Officer, The Hollard Insurance Company

David Hall is the Chief Risk Officer for Hollard Insurance in Australia. Prior to joining Hollard, David worked as a consultant for over 10 years, first with Deloitte where he became a Director in the Financial Crime division of Deloitte Forensic and then with Marsh Risk Consulting (MRC) where he established the Asia Pacific Financial Crime Consulting division. David specialises in fraud risk management, but has advised a number of clients on other risk management matters, particularly in the general insurance and wealth management industries.

John Jarratt John Jarratt
Head of Operational Risk Quantitative Analysis, National Australia Bank

John Jarratt is Head of Operational Risk Quantitative Analysis for National Australia Bank, based in Sydney, where he has responsibility for the implementation and development of the AMA operational risk capital model.

Prior to joining NAB, John was a Professor at Macquarie University and Head of Enterprise Risk Analytics at Westpac. John trained as a pure mathematician and has a PhD from the University of Warwick in England.

Martin Lalor Martin Lalor
Executive Manager, Suncorp Group

Martin is an Executive Manager in the Finance Office for Suncorp Group. He is responsible for the Group’s risk-based capital and stress testing frameworks, which extend across Suncorp’s Banking, General Insurance and Life Insurance companies. Martin has almost 20 years experience in the banking and insurance industries, primarily in risk management, trading and modelling roles. .

Hilary Lewis Hilary Lewis
Director, Systemic Consult

Hilary co-founded Systemic Consult and divides her time between working with managers to develop a deeper understanding of both enterprise creation and enterprise risk management, and researching and developing models in response to the key issues these managers are primarily concerned with. Currently engaged by the UK Construction Industry Research and Information Association to advise on forward-looking thinking on how risk cultures can to be understood and effectively developed, Hilary is also the Keynote speaker at the 13th Annual Risk Congress in London this year.

Trevor Matthews Trevor Matthews

Trevor Matthews is a former CEO with a strong track record of leading profitable businesses in the UK, Asia, North America and Australia. His most recent positions included Executive Director and Chairman of Aviva UK at Aviva plc and Group CEO and board member of Friends Provident plc. He has held a number of other positions including President of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia, Chairman of the Financial Skills Partnership in the UK, board member of the Association of British Insurers and President of the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Lindsay Smartt Lindsay Smartt
Chief Risk Officer, Munich Re Australasia

Lindsay Smartt has over 30 years experience in the financial services industry and was appointed CRO of Munich Re in Australia/New Zealand in 2011. Lindsay has previously worked in life insurance, reinsurance, wealth management and financial services across the Asia Pacific region including seven years in his own consultancy and has held a number of appointed actuary positions. He has been an active participant in the actuarial profession throughout his career and is currently a member of Council of the Actuaries Institute and chair of its Audit and Risk Council Committee.

Andries Terblanche is a Partner with KPMG and an advisor on systemic risk to international investment banks, asset managers, airliners and mining conglomerates, as well as Australian banks, asset managers and insurance companies. Andre has spent the past seven years studying the limitations of traditional risk models and the design of complementary systemic risk modelling, is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, and has received recognition for his contributions to business from organisations based in Washington and London.
