Subjects and Syllabus

The Foundation Program has been updated to meet the changing needs of employers and students.

You can study the Foundation Program curriculum through courses at an accredited university or through the Actuaries Institute.

  • The new curriculum commenced in 2019 for students studying directly through the Actuaries Institute.
  • Accredited universities adopted the new curriculum from either 2019 or 2020.
  • If you  commenced your studies before 2019 you need to check the Transition Arrangements.

Studying at university

There are eight accredited universities across Australia and New Zealand that cover the Institute's Foundation Program. View the university courses here.

Students who commenced their studies before 2019 should check the Transition Arrangements.

Studying with the Actuaries Institute

To study the Foundation Program with the Actuaries Institute you need to become a student member first and then enrol online through the Actuaries Institute.

The Actuaries Institute Foundation Program courses are assessed through the examinations of the UK Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA).
